Connected Media - promoting sustainability through media

Connected Media's Partners

Since 1993 when Connected Media was founded we have been a regional partner of tv/e.

tv/e was established in 1984 by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Central Television UK and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to promote global awareness of environment, development, human rights and health issues through the platforms of broadcast television and other audio-visual media.

tv/e works to promote informed debate, public awareness and practical solutions to the growing challenges of human development. It has produced and co-produced about 1000 films, many of which have won the most prestigious international television awards.

Connected Media distributes tv/e programming in New Zealand and Australia, including the Earth Report, Life and Hands On series which are broadcast on BBC World.

Development Resource Centre

In 2006 we began a two-year partnership with the Development Resource Centre (DRC) to promote sustainability education, awareness and empowerment.

The DRC is Aotearoa New Zealand’s specialist information and education centre focused on development and global issues. It is a not-for-profit, non-government, charitable trust with a voluntary governance board. The DRC is core funded by NZAID Nga Hoe Tuputupu-mai-tawhiti, a semi-autonomous body of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The DRC has two programmes: Dev-Zone and Global Education Centre (GEC).

Dev-Zone provides information services on development and global issues to NGOs, consultants, universities, community groups, government departments, libraries, and businesses operating in the field of overseas aid and development. Dev-Zone has an extensive range of up-to-date electronic and hard copy resources, operates a public access library, manages a comprehensive web site on development issues, provides email updates on a variety of development topics, and draws on a range of expertise in development practice and education.

The Global Education Centre (GEC) provides services to the formal and non-formal education sectors, and the community sector, on Global Education. There are two sub-programme areas: Schools, and Community Youth. GEC provides training and resources to teachers, teacher trainees, students, youth workers and community groups, and builds their capacity to include global awareness into their programmes. Through its Youth Advocate, GEC also works directly with young people, facilitating their participation in youth-led global youth work.
